Hey everyone,

Great class yesterday. Your spheres looked great, I look forward to seeing your results. Since were just getting in the swing of things I'll post assignments but of course I expect that you all take notes in your sketchbook about expectations and due dates.
So to reiterate:

Due Thursday, Sept 1---Sketches for still life. I asked for three, which means 3 formulated ideas for objects and composition. This is not a drawing class so don't be intimidated. Sketch your project to the best of your ability to express your idea.

Due Tuesday, Sept 6---3 forms: sphere, cone, cube. We will discuss this again in class Thursday.

Hi y'all, I just wanted to highlight some points from yesterday to clear up any misunderstandings. I hope you find this blog fairly simple to navigate. If you have any questions for me I can be contacted via this site. Scroll to the right and click on KGM, (thats me!) you will see on the upper left an option to e-mail me. Easy right?

Ok, some important stuff:
My name is Kat MacKinnon, find our greensheet by my last name at the following address
http://ad.sjsu.edu/programs/greensheets/

Correction, the green sheet says $10 for tools, but you know that is wrong because it is $15! Sorry for the inflation, it happens.

FOR TUESDAY:
  • Post one image on this blog inspired by "Vanitas." Can be a painting, sculpture, or even a photograph. I encourage you to browse the web and see how other artists have interpreted this idea. Be prepared to explain why you chose your image.
  • Bring $35 cash or 2 checks, one for $20 and one for $15
  • Bring Lock, plastic bags (garbage, market or other), one fork, paint brushes, and bucket
  • You may also want an apron, sponges, or other tools.

Also don't forget profile pictures sooner then later. This will really help me to get to know you. If there are any technical issues with any of these processes please feel free to contact
me.

Lastly, relax! This is going to be a great semester. First days are always nerve racking and a bit awkward for all of us. I promise to make every effort to keep you all up to speed and confident.
